Sadly, we are informing the community of the death of Harry Silvern, 93, of Norwalk Connecticut. Harry passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at Mozaic Senior Life where he was receiving excellent and loving care for the last few years of his life.
Harry was born and grew up in the Bronx and settled in Norwalk, Connecticut after serving in the Korean War and leaving the Air Force in 1952. He worked at Yankee Metal for over 30 years and lived in Norwalk until the final years of his life.
He will be remembered as a dedicated and kind family man who loved life. He was an avid baseball fan (NY Yankees), a stamp collector, a gardener, and a member and secretary of the Knights of Pythias, a charitable fraternal organization, for many years. He especially enjoyed reading science fiction novels and took his sons to the public library most weekends. Harry loved driving and taking Sunday drives to explore all the nooks and crannies of the region, no map needed! Most of all Harry enjoyed being with his family.
Harry overcame some difficult challenges in his life with grit and determination. He was fiercely independent and resilient especially in the last few years of his life as he adapted to the circumstances of his aging and embraced the community at Mozaic.
Harry is survived by his sons Steven Silvern (Donna Baron) and Martin Silvern (Terry Mehr) and his grandchildren Nathan and Jacqueline. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 41 years, Doris Silvern and his wife of 20 years, Catherine Picataggio.
A private funeral for immediate family will be held at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mozaic Senior Life in Bridgeport, Connecticut (https://www.mozaicsl.org/donations/donate-now).
