New Iberia - Harry Simon, age 90, of New Iberia, Louisiana, peacefully passed away at his home on January 17, 2026
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Cemetery, in Jeanerette.
Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant.
Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Of Jesus Catholic Church, on Friday, from 10:30 am until 1:00 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 12 Noon.
Harry was born on July 17, 1935 in St. Martinville, to the late Demas and Carmelite Champagne Simon. He grew up in St. Martinville, moving to New Iberia, after his marriage to Ruby Boutte.
Harry was known for his love of his family, especially his Grand Children, & Great Grandsons.
Harry spent his career working as the Head Pressman for the Daily Iberian for 20 years, and had previously worked for over 20 years at the Daily Advertiser. He enjoyed reading the newspaper to this day.
Once retired, he focused on spending time with his family, volunteering at church and in the community he loved.
In recent years, Harry and his wife Ruby moved to Breaux Bridge to be closer to family.
Harry is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruby Simon; their two daughters Vickie and Allison (husband Gary); grandchildren Lance (wife Monica), Lacie, Jonathan, Justin and Josh; and great granchildren Leo, Eli, and Waylon; sister, Evelyn Romero.
Pallbearers will be Lance Cutrer, Gary Latiolais, Jonathan Latiolais, Justin Latiolais, Ricky Boutte, Beau Boutte, Andre Boutte and Chad Reaux.
We would like to thank the staff at Ochsner Lafayette General for their kindness and help they gave our Dad, especially RN Lauren on the 10th floor, and RN Breana on the 9th floor. Also the ICU team who helped to get him home. They went above and beyond to help him. We would also like to thank Heart of Hospice. Thank you all again.

Harry and his sweet smile, will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
