Harry E. Swain, 77 of Port Sanilac, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 5, 2025, in his home with family by his side. He was born February 3, 1948, in Port Huron to the late William H. and Paula G. (Witt) Swain. He married Deborah J. Hope on December 31, 2003, in Croswell. Harry was a skilled welder and fabricator. He was an employee of Wirtz Manufacturing for 37 years. He could often be found in his shop where he was known to repair vehicles, build trailers, and weld intricate items that only he could do. He was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, and brother. He had an amazing and abundant love for life. He was a social butterfly, making friends everywhere he went. He loved playing a wide variety of games, but he especially enjoyed playing the card games euchre and burn. He also loved playing horseshoes, going camping and riding his bicycle. He was always excited to head south for Florida in his later years where he would spend time with the many friends that he had made. In the evenings, he found relaxation around a bonfire with his family and friends. He was a true Godsend and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Harry is survived by his wife Debbie, his mother-in-law Arlene Hope, children Dale Swain, Rhonda (Tim) Howard, and Denise (Brian) Sears; his stepchildren Rebecca (David) Ehrlich, Ret. SFC Eric (Elsa) Kinnee, and Rachel (Alfred) Paoletti. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, namely Jesseline (Brandon Hubley) Dunn, Dale Swain II, Alexandra (Charles) Anderson, Jacob Dunn, David Ehrlich, Emilia Skinner, HM3 E. William (HM3 Rissa) Skinner, Michael Paoletti, PFC Brooke (Jared Denike) Howard, Alexander Paoletti, Martin Howard, and Nicholas Paoletti; his surviving great grandchildren are Dallis, Jaxson, and Paislee; his surviving siblings are Pamela (Gary) Miller, Patricia (Ray) Ferrett, and Suzanne (Alex) Boskovic, and Steve (Dawn) Swain; sister-in-law Rhonda (Jim) Kerr, and several surviving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Lindsay M. Swain and brothers William Swain, Jr, Edward Swain, and Patrick Swain. Harry's family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the hospice nurses as well as the many medical professionals who have been caring for him. A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in Lexington at the Lakeview Hills Golf Resort from 1pm to 5pm, with the ceremony to commence at 3pm. A meal will take place after the ceremony. Donations may be made in honor of Harry to United Hospice Service of Marlette and Port Sanilac Methodist Church.
