Harry Thomas Tunnell Sr.

Harry Thomas Tunnell, Sr., departed this life on October 10, 2022, at the age of 65. He was born on January 26, 1957, in Lewes, Delaware, to the late David and Edith (Roger) Tunnell.
Harry briefly attended a two-room school in Belltown, and was later transferred to Dupont and Shields Elementary School in Lewes, Delaware, which was an integrated facility. Harry left school at a young age to care for his siblings after the passing of his mother.
Harry was a jack of all trades. He worked for Randy Burton for over 20 years doing odd jobs in construction, landscaping, masonry and carpentry work. Harry was also a dedicated caretaker to his loving wife before his health declined. Harry loved to fish, hunt and BBQ on the grill. He was our neighborhood Fred Sanford who always seemed to find treasure in what others thought was junk. Harry was a no non-sense man and would tell you "like it is". He lived for today with no concerns for tomorrow. Known by many near and far, to know Harry was to love him.
Harry married the love of his life Lois Elaine Tunnell on May 4, 1985.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph "Joe Joe" Tunnell and David Tunnell, Jr.; and two sisters, Georgiana Bratten and Helen Marie Tunnell.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Lois Tunnell of Milton, DE; two sons, Harry Tunnell, Jr. and Dawan Powell (Raven) all of Milton, DE; five grandchildren, Bria Powell of Dover, DE, Mariya Powell of Milton, DE, Justice Powell of Milton, DE, Juelz Tunnell and Jada Tunnell both of Georgetown, DE; one great-grandson, Ja'Zhier Clark of Dover, DE; one brother, Josh Tunnell of Wilmington, DE; four sisters, Blanche Spence and Vera Bundick (Reginald) all of Lewes, DE, Charlotte Demby and Sarah Johnson (Lewis) all of Wilmington, DE; five brothers-in-law, Amos Bratton of Harbeson, DE, James Boyer and Robert Powell both of Milton, DE, Joe Powell of Georgetown, DE and Melvin Powell (Nora) of Georgia; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
