James Harold Tunnell age 84, passed away, Feb.28,2026 at Durham Hensley Health and Rehab.
Harold is survived by 2 nephews: Stephen Center and his wife Rose of Raleigh NC, and Luther Center of Circleville OH.; Great-nephews and nieces Andrew Center and wife Samantha Shutts (son Angus and daughter Astrid), Stephen Center Jr and wife Andrea (sons Jackson and Jacob), Sarah Center Burt (son Sullivan and daughter Camille), and Michael Center and wife Sara (son Miles).
He was preceded in death by his parents: Horace Tillman Tunnell and Bertha Goodson Tunnell; special aunt, Kate ("Kack") Goodson; his brothers, Edd Tunnell, Donald Tunnell and John Carroll Tunnell; and his sisters; Helen Tunnell and Yvonda Center.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 4-6 pm at Jeffers Funeral Service downtown. The graveside service will be held Thursday at 2 pm in Zion Cemetery in Baileyton. Family and friends are requested to meet at 1:45 pm at the cemetery.
