Harry Eugene Whippo, born on July 6, 1947, in Exeter, CA, and a resident of Gilbert, AZ at his time of passing, lived his life with an unwavering spirit of generosity and ambition. He departed from this world on April 23, 2024, leaving behind a legacy marked by deep familial connections, a successful career, and an abundance of personal achievements that inspired all who knew him.
As a young boy in 1960 Harry achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank within the Boys Scouts of America, setting a standard of leadership and perseverance. Harry served in the United States Marine Corps from 1965 - 1969, displaying bravery and dedication that earned him two Purple Hearts.
After serving his country with distinction, Harry pursued higher education at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 1974. His education paved the way for a notable career in banking, where he dedicated over two decades of his life before branching out as a successful entrepreneur of multiple businesses until his retirement in 2014.
Beyond his professional life, Harry was a man of many interests and talents. He relished traveling, exploring new cultures and cuisines, which often inspired his adventures in cooking. His love for nature was evident in his meticulous care for his garden, where he spent countless peaceful hours. Harry's enjoyment of DIY projects, reading, and watching basketball also spoke volumes about his continual quest for knowledge and engagement.
Harry's character was shaped by values such as honesty, loyalty, kindness, and consideration, making him a beloved figure within his community and beyond. He was a devoted husband to Cynthia, a supportive brother to Danny, and a guiding figure to his children-Jeffrey David Whippo, Stacey Delena Cermenelli, Christopher Steven Whippo, and Brian Douglas Whippo. Harry embraced being a grandfather with immense love and pride for all his grandchildren equally and unequivocally: JR Sidebottom, Mikayla Rae Whippo, Bryce Houston Cermenelli, Braydon William Cermenelli, Nicholas Morgan Whippo, Christopher Aidan Whippo, Hailey Joanne Whippo, Jayde Alessandra Richardson, and Dorian Jaye Whippo.
A remembrance ceremony will be held for Harry at Falconer Funeral Home on May 20, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., located at 251 W. Juniper Ave., Gilbert, AZ 85233. Those who knew him are invited to join in celebrating a life well-lived, filled with courage, integrity, and boundless kindness.
In his memory, let us hold close to the attributes Harry cherished most – generosity, ambition, loyalty, honesty, and kindness. As we reflect on his life, we realize that the true measure of a man lies not in the wealth he accrues or the titles he bears, but in the integrity of his conduct and the capacity to foster love and virtue in the hearts of others. Farewell, Harry, until we meet again in the gardens beyond the horizon.
