Harry Whittaker

Visitation for 1st Sgt. (Ret) Harry R. Whittaker will be Sunday, September 29th, 5 - 8 pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Harker Heights. Internment will be Monday, September 30th, 9 am at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Whittaker died September 21, 2024 in Harker Heights, Texas. He was born January 7, 1949 in Sanford, Maine to John and Barbara (Shepard) Whittaker. He proudly served in and retired from the US Army and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association, Chapter 1000, as well as, a member of the American Legion, Post #0223. He served two tours in Vietnam and at multiple duty stations around the world, retiring in 1986. He then worked for and retired from Orkin Pest Control after 25 years. He spent his retirement helping others; family, friends, neighbors and especially his Vietnam Veteran Association buddies and their families. He enjoyed time with friends and family and attending all of the events of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. You could find him at volleyball, football, baseball, basketball and lacrosse games. He also attended many dance recitals and band competitions. Mr. Whittaker was preceded in death by his mother, father, brothers John Richard Whittaker, Norman Whittaker (Linda) and William Whittaker (Sharon), sister Sandra Dwyer and his son Tom Wallace (Cassi). Survivors include his loving wife Linda Whittaker, children Lori Feeney (Shaun), Bob Wallace (Ami) and Vicki Smith, grandchildren Ashleigh Hodyniak (Shane), Brandon Feeney, Carson, Ian and Mitchell Wallace, Taylor Odum, great-grandchildren Victoria and Brooklyn Feeney, Carleigh and Avereigh Hodyniak, as well as, many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Whittaker asks that donations be made to the Vietnam Veterans Association, Chapter 1000, P.O. Box 2123, Harker Heights, Texas, 76548.
