Harvey J. Anderson, age 91, of Goreville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.
Harvey was born December 08, 1932 in Phoenix, Arizona, a son of Melvin and H. Janet (Whelpley) Anderson. As a young child his family moved to Cobden, Illinois where he grew up and graduated high school. He joined the US Air Force during the Korean War. While in England he met his wife, Janet Munday and on January 14, 1956 they married in her home church, St. John's in Markyate, England. They returned to the US and Harvey attended SIU graduating with an Associates Degree. He worked as a Machinist at the ORDILL Plant. He later worked for 20 + years as a Carpenter. When he retired he and his wife built Hilltop Campground and ran it for 30 years. Harvey was a member of Countryside Christian Church in Vienna.
He is survived by his wife Janet Anderson of Goreville, IL; two daughters, Susan L. Miller (Jim King) of Cobden, IL and Carolyn J. White (Danny) of Goreville, IL; four grandchildren, Michael (Chrissy) Fisher, Stephanie (Matt) Duckworth, Robyn (Derek) Worley, and Derek James White; and nine great-grandchildren, Kaitlin (Nick) Jellen, Zander Fisher, Gabriel Fisher, Tesla Fisher, Isaiah Duckworth, Catherine Duckworth, Bradyn Worley, Tytus Worley, and Archer Worley. He is preceded in death by one grandchild, Katherine M White Rockwell and his parents, Melvin C. and H. Janet Anderson.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 10th, 2024 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home - Goreville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024, 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home - Goreville with Bill Littrell and Rev. Leroy Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow at Cobden City Cemetery in Cobden, Illinois.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hospice of Southern IL.
