Harvey Castaneda, 57, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away on February 15, 2026, in Pocatello. Harvey was born on February 19, 1968, in American Falls, Idaho, to Henrietta and Ruben Castaneda. Harvey spent his early years in American Falls alongside his siblings John, Barbra, and Ruben Castaneda.
From a young age, he loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing, hunting, and camping. He also enjoyed spending his weekends attending local dances with friends. Those same passions followed him into his adulthood. Harvey made his home in Pocatello, where he built a life with his wife, Ana; together they raised their children, Saphirina, Fabian, Bianca, Nicholas, and Kassandrea.
Harvey worked hard to support his family through various ventures, including H&R Painting, working as a chef for several high profile companies. Harvey was known for his humor and his love language which was cooking for people and a natural gift for making people laugh and an even greater gift for making people feel seen and most importantly valued. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and show up for others. He was the best and greatest Husband, Dad, "papa" and friend to everyone.
He found his greatest joy in the outdoors with loved ones. Harvey, will continue to hold a special place in everyone’s heart. Harvey's greatest pride was his family and his loving wife, Ana; his children, Saphirina (Garrison), Fabian, Bianca, Nicholas, and Kassandrea (Adam); his cherished grandchildren, Tyce, Davien, Laveya, Matyas, Gracie, Ellie, Alaini, Aaliyah, Remington, Essie, Rome, Julius, and his great granddaughter, Ivy; and one expected grandchild; his mother, Henrietta Castaneda; his siblings, Barbra Castaneda and Ruben Castaneda. He was preceded in death by his son, Fabian Castaneda; his father, Ruben Castaneda; his grandparents, Mary and Pablo Castaneda, and Till and Otila Tumlinson; his siblings Donnamae Castaneda, Ricky Castaneda, and John Castaneda; and his mother and father in law, Linda and Lionel Bosquez.
The family is especially grateful to Ed's Painting for giving Harvey the chance to continue doing what brought him joy, working alongside people he loved and respected. They also wish to thank friends and family for the prayers and support shown during this difficult time. Harvey's impact extended far beyond blood, his laughters, generosity, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who encountered him. At the beginning and end of the day he praised and loved his God.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Wilks Colonial Chapel, 2005 S 4th Avenue, Pocatello, ID. A visitation will be held prior beginning at 12:00 pm.
