Sandy Webb Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Southern Utah Mortuary - Cedar City on Mar. 11, 2026.
Sandy Dean Webb, age 69, passed away March 5, 2026 at home in Cedar City, Utah. He was born February 21, 1957 in Heber City, Utah to Gerald John Webb and Rhea Jean Johnson Webb. He grew up in Charleston, Payson, Utah and Boulder City, Nevada. He graduated from Boulder High School.

Sandy grew up learning to do mechanical work from his father. He took jobs as a mechanic and continued to learn more as he worked. He also took different technical college courses to be certified in many different aspects of mechanical work. But he specialized in transmissions.

Sandy met his wife, Margene Hunsaker, in Pocatello, Idaho. Sandy had already lived there a while. He moved there to be on his own and to be near his twin sister, Cindy, who lived there at the time. Margene, who had only just moved there a month prior from her hometown of Honeyville, Utah, from the urging and begging of her long-time good dear friend Nedra. Sandy and Margene met in December 1977 and got married the following April 2, 1978. They were married by Margene's father who was a Justice of the Peace, in Margene's childhood home. Sandy and Margene were later sealed together for time and all eternity in the Las Vegas Temple, on October 14, 2005 (Margene's birthday). Sandy and Margene lived in Pocatello, Chubbuck Idaho, Boulder City and Las Vegas, NV. They've been in Cedar City since 1996.

Margene already had a baby boy when they met. Sandy adopted him as his own shortly after his marriage to Margene. They had another boy while they lived in Chubbuck. And a third boy while living in Boulder City.

Sandy liked to go deer hunting and fishing when he was younger. But more than anything he enjoyed spending time with his wife and boys, going to the lake and camping, taking the boys three and four wheeling, and working with and teaching them mechanics out in his workshop that he built next to their home in Las Vegas. He also enjoyed time spent with his mother, brothers, and sisters. Living here he enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Utah Jazz basketball.

Sandy worked for the Clark County Sanitation Department as a mechanic in Las Vegas and some part time work at Amco Transmissions.

After moving to Cedar City, he worked at Bradshaw Chevrolet and Buick as a mechanic and at Mountain West Milk Transportation as a mechanic and a truck driver. Then he was hired as a mechanic for Cedar City Corporation, later getting the promotion of being the Superintendent over streets and solid waste.

Something Sandy was proud of that he did for a few years after moving to Cedar City was volunteering at the Division of Youth Corrections, speaking to the youth to teach them how to improve their lives for when they get out and talking to them about his own life and experiences. He also did the same for the youth at the Horizon House. Sandy was presented with an award and three certificates from the United States Restorative Justice Committee, the Cedar City City Council, as well as the Southwest Utah Youth Center. Sandy was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife Margene; his sons, Nathan Webb (Keithea) of Las Vegas, NV, Joshua Webb (Jenny) of Cedar City, UT; his mother Rhea Ziemer of Boulder City, NV; his brothers Jerry Webb of Las Vegas, NV, Matt Webb (Diana) of Boulder City, NV; his sisters, Jeanie Gutierrez of Bunkerville, NV, twin Cindy Belding of Boulder City, NV, Mindy (Jeff) of Las Vegas, NV; grandson Jaydin James Webb of Las Vegas, NV; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald (Verda) Webb, two stepfathers Wayne Waters and Bob Ziemer; his brother, Gary Webb; brother-in-law Sam Gutierrez; niece Misty Neilson; his beloved son, Shawn Webb; and granddaughter Cali Jo Anne Webb.

Graveside services will be held on Friday March 13, 2026 at 1:00 pm at the Cedar City Cemetery. A viewing will be held prior to the graveside from 10:30am – 12:30pm at Southern Utah Mortuary (190 N. 300 W., Cedar City, UT). Final arrangements are under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
