Joshua Robert Pomerinke, age 39, passed away on March 8, 2026 in Milford Utah. He was born on April 3, 1986 in
Salt Lake City, Utah to Stan Pomerinke and Cynthia Davis. Josh got an early start in life being born 7 weeks premature. He was so tiny, yet such a fighter. This strength helped carry him throughout his entire life.
Josh attended Minersville Elementary until halfway through First grade, where he then attended Fiddler's Elementary School in Cedar City for the next year and a half. He came back to Minersville Elementary halfway through Third grade and finished his elementary years here in Minersville.
Josh then attended Beaver High School where he was active in all the sports: football, basketball, and baseball. He was so athletic and smart. He never realized his full potential. He gave it his all in every sport he was involved in. Most kids want an infield position in baseball, not Josh. He loved the outfield. He could throw a runner out at home plate from deep in centerfield. He had some great coaches and made lifelong friends. Josh graduated from Beaver High School in 2004.
Josh enjoyed hanging out with friends and cousins. They could be found playing sports, fishing, hunting, and anything else to occupy young boys. They were always on the go. When he was younger, there were many days after school, Josh could be found heading out through the backyard, fishing pole in hand, headed to the creek. In high school, he was still hanging out with friends, but now he was chasing the girls or was it the girls chasing him?
Josh was adventurous and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed being in the hills with his dad, brothers, or friends hiking and looking for rocks and other treasures, cutting posts, or just enjoying nature. Josh loved the simple things in life.
At the end of high school, Josh met the love of his life, Kayla Stapley. They had a life of ups and downs, but he always stood by her. They had two handsome boys, who Josh always loved. He wanted nothing more in life than to be a dad. It crushed his soul when some of his choices altered that plan.
Josh was an amazing brother. He took that role very seriously, always trying to guide and protect his sister and brothers. He loved to spend time with them even though as they got older, that was not as often as they would have liked. They laughed and joked whenever they got together. He had the most contagious laugh and beautiful smile.
Josh had a number of different employment opportunities throughout his life and was one of the hardest working people around. He would jump in and get right to work, even if he had to figure it out along the way. Some of those jobs included working at the pig farms, cutting posts out west, oil rigs, concrete
work, and iron/copper mines maintenance. He was very knowledgeable and wasn't afraid to try new things.
Josh was very kind, thoughtful, gentle, and loving. He was compassionate and would give anyone the shirt off his back, even if he didn't have one. He was always willing to jump in and help others. He was loved by everyone that knew him. He loved being around his family and doted on his niece and nephews.
Josh had struggles, but he was always true to himself. He owned up to his shortcomings and was really heading down a positive path. He wanted to better himself for his boys, hoping someday they would be able to be proud of the man he was. He was always an amazing son, brother, husband, and friend.
Joshua is survived by his wife, Kayla; parents, Stan and Christy Pomerinke and Cynthia and Adam Davis; his siblings, Tricia (Chuck) Mason, Braiden (Makell) Pomerinke, Colton (Harlea) Pomerinke; his two sons, Kraeton Pomerinke and Krypton Smith; Grandparents, Nolan and Iva Davis, a niece and nephews, plus many other family members.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; Penny Yardley and Wayne and Merle Gillins.
