Richard Lyman Edwards, age 71, passed away on December 2, 2025 at the Holladay Healthcare Center, Holladay, Utah. He was born January 9, 1954 in Milford, Utah, the fifth child of Beth Lyman Edwards and Harold Edwards. Raised in a lively family of 4 boys and 3 girls, he was a highly active and curious child, walking when he was 9 months old. Richard attended Milford Elementary and Milford High School where he was an excellent student, played football, basketball, trumpet in the band, and served as Student Body President his senior year. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, accompanying Priesthood meeting on the piano when he was a deacon.

He attended BYU on a scholarship. Richard married Diane Kelly Kennedy on January 19, 1973. They had twin daughters – later divorced. He served in the United States Navy 4 years 1975-1979; working in the medical department as a "medic" on the ship USS Stein (FF 1965).

Richard met Nancy Jo Sparks in Fremont, CA where they both attended Ohlone College and married on August 9, 1980; later divorced. They had 3 sons. He was a lab technician for Clorox in Livermore, CA. After moving to Salt Lake City, Utah he worked as a central surgical technician at the VA, Primary Children's and the University of Utah Hospitals. He loved to read, eat at Ogie's Cafe, and watch the Dallas Cowboys.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Beth Lyman Edwards and Harold Edwards; a son, Brandon Benjamin Edwards; a brother, Bryan Lee Edwards, and a sister, Joan Ginn.

He is survived by his children: twins -- Elizabeth (Billy) Wallace, Battle Ground, WA; Angela (Dan) Chastain, Happy Valley, OR; and Jeffrey Neal (Jessie) Edwards, Brentwood, CA; Thomas Christopher (Amber) Edwards, Carmel, CA; 10 grandchildren; and siblings: Gayle Hollingshaus, Mapleton, UT; Mary (Gary) Weston, Murray, UT; Rodney Harold (Karlene) Edwards, S. Jordan, UT; Robert Lynn (JoAnne) Edwards, Holladay, UT.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Building (748 W. 600 S., Milford, UT). A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Milford Cemetery. Online condolences can be shared at www.mortuary.org.
