Obituary published on Legacy.com by Southern Utah Mortuary - Cedar City on Nov. 6, 2025.
Surrounded by her family at her home in Minersville, Jennifer McDermott Marshall, age 52, returned home to her Heavenly Father on November 5, 2025. Born June 29, 1973, in
Cedar City, Utah, to Richard and Gloria McDermott. Her Family moved to Milford, where she attended Milford Elementary and Milford High School. She played basketball, volleyball, and was on the Tigerettes. She graduated in 1991 and married her high school sweetheart, Sidney Jo Marshall. Moving to Minersville, she started her own family, Waylon born in 1991, Kelcie born in 1994, and Jake born in 2004. Waylon made her a mama, and his excitement for life prepared her to raise the many children that would lovingly call her mom and grandma. Kelcie was her little princess, best friend, and sidekick through everything. Jake was her long-awaited baby boy and his mama's right-hand man. Jennifer made her family her entire world. She supported her kids in every activity and sport they ever wanted to do. Accomplishments, big or small, she was there for them all. Jen dedicated her life to helping run daily operations at Bar F Ranch. She spent many days driving tractors, moving cattle, doing bookkeeping, and feeding the crew. Most of the time, with a kid on her side.
Jennifer was not only the best caregiver to her family, but she also held many jobs that served her community. She loved being a Medical Assistant, EMT, and Pharmacy Tech. Jen was always willing to be the go-to for any accident or injury that needed medical attention. Including helping the Doctor sew the tip of Sid's finger back on him in Minersville. She also loved taking care of the youth in her community. She worked and was in charge of the After School Achievement Program, helping many students for almost 10 years. Jen was most recently known for her hard work and accomplishments working for Beaver County. She was the manager at the Minersville Lake campground, the Beaver County Fairgrounds, and the Tushar Lake campground. She helped the county receive many grants and made many improvements in all areas she was involved in. Jennifer lived a life of service and sacrifice, helping her community in any way she could. She loved serving in the LDS church, holding many callings, her most recent being the Young Women's president. She served on the county Fair board committee for almost 20 years. Farm Bureau was very important to her, fighting every chance she got to protect the agricultural life she loved, serving at both the state and county levels. Change and progress were always important to her, which led her to serve on her local city council and planning and zoning committee. You could find her volunteering for any community event or supporting any fundraiser that came her way. While living in Minersville, she made countless friends who became her family. Jennifer opened her heart and home to more than just her family. She had many extra kids that lived with her, and she loved them all. She claimed them all as her own, and you all know who you are.
At a young age, Jen moved into the greatest adventure of her life, the adventure of being a Grandma! Her grandkids were the pride and joy of her life. Starting with Dallie Jo, who was raised alongside her uncle Jake, being a spitting image of Grandma Jen. Bristol came next, small in stature, but also a little spitfire standing up for what she believes, always giving her heart just like her grandma. Grandma relived her baby boy when little Ned came along, being a mini-me to Uncle Jake. Jayda Lynn was Grandma's little sidekick since the moment she picked her name and welcomed her into the world. Tex came next. Grandma was aware of his needs right from the beginning, always fighting his fight with him. Dusty was Grandma's guardian angel and decided to join our family when Grandma needed him the most. He joined in her fight and was with her through it all.
Jen believed in dreaming big, and in the last several years, she and Sid were able to make their dream come true by purchasing her grandparents' farm, the LeFevre Ranch, in Panguitch. She has been renovating and restoring the farmhouse to make it beautiful again. Jennifer is survived by her husband, Sidney Jo (Sid) Marshall of Minersville. Their son Waylon T. Marshall, his wife Staylee, and their children, Dallie, Bristol, Ned & Tex of Minersville. Their Daughter, Kelcie Lynn, & Her husband, Jayden Rhodes, and their children, Jayda Lynn & Dusty, of Cedar City. Their son, Jake Marshall (Atlanta Griffiths) of Minersville. Parents Richard & Gloria McDermott. Her siblings are Jason McDermott, Jammie Hardy, Jeramie (Sara) McDermott, and Jesse McDermott. Siblings-in-law, Elaine (Dale) Baldwin, Marlene Marshall, Grace (Scott) Bealer, and many nieces and nephews who love and adore her very much. She is preceded in death by her loving grandparents, Donald & Fern McDermott of Lehi, and Alvin & LaRine Bradshaw of Cedar City. Parents-in-law, Fay & Betty Marshall of Minersville, Brother-in-laws Tommy Marshall and Gregory Marshall of Minersville. To know Jennifer is to love her beautiful soul. Her family would like to express their gratitude for all the love, support, messages, and kind words during this trying time.
