Arlene Edwards

Arlene Quarnberg Edwards, 81, passed away February 23, 2026, surrounded by her family in Beaver, Utah. She was born September 9, 1944, at the Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah to Phyllis Olsen and Francis Merrill Quarnberg.

Arlene grew up in Scipio, Utah, where she attended Scipio Elementary School and Millard High School. She married Glayde Edwards; they later divorced but remained dear friends. She then met her life partner and love of over 30 years, Federico "Fred" Hernandez.

She loved barrel racing and horseback riding-especially her moonlit bareback rides when everyone else was asleep. She dedicated much of her time to the East Millard Riding Club and treasured the friendships she made there. She enjoyed cross-stitch, tending her beautiful garden, and most recently volunteering at Beaver Long Term Care.

She will be remembered for her mischievous grin, sharp sarcasm, quick-witted comebacks, and a house that faithfully held at 80 degrees-warming everyone who entered in more ways than one. Arlene was deeply treasured for her generous capacity to love, often bringing home new pets, kids, and grandkids wherever she went -each convinced they were her favorite. Her grandkids have especially fond memories of the hours spent playing games at grandma's kitchen table.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Rhett, Tami, Paul and Lisa Elieson, and the Beaver Valley Hospital staff for their compassionate care of our mom and grandma. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, Phyllis and Francis Merrill Quarnberg; her sister, Dinah Johnson; her brothers, Keith and Glen Quarnberg; her son, Kevin Edwards; her son-in-law, Michael Turpin; her grandson, Cory Beebe; her two great- grandchildren, Stahley Sorenson and Julian Myles Ferry; and many of her beloved fur babies.

She is survived by her life partner, Fred Hernandez; children, Vickie Edwards, Jody Turpin, Cory Edwards, Becki Pendleton (Brent), Viridiana Hernandez (Adrian Sandoval), and Aidee Rubalcava (Guadalupe); as well as 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who adore her.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11:00 am at Southern Utah Mortuary, 195 N 200 W, Beaver, UT 84713. Online condolences may be sent to www.mortuary.org.
