Steven Olsen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Southern Utah Mortuary - Cedar City on Feb. 12, 2026.
Steven Chester Olsen, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, departed this life February 10th 2026 at the age of 76.

Steve was born February 27, 1949, to Chester Olsen and Beverly Ethel Olsen. He grew up in a lively household being one of six boys, where adventure was a daily occurrence and brotherhood was a life long bond. The stories, laughter, and mischief of the house full of boys shaped the man that everyone came to know and love. Even throughout his life the brothers spoke weekly, often sharing excitement about new guns and treasured gems found at garage sales.

Steve graduated from Skyline High School in 1967, shortly after joining the United States Navy, serving his country before being honorably discharged in 1968. He went on to build a long and dedicated career as a Gas Service Technician with Quest Star Gas, where he helped countless people over the years with his skill, reliability, and steady presence for 31 years, retiring in 2000. In September of 1963, Steve met the love of his life, Rosemary Heagren. They were married February 5, 1969, and just celebrated 57 years of marriage. Together they built a beautiful life centered on love, family, and the outdoors. They raised three children whom they loved unconditionally, creating countless memories of camping and fishing, spending time at the family cabin in Christmas Meadows, boating at Lake Powell, and sharing endless laughter around campfires.

Steve had a love for the outdoors and was happiest on the mountain or the lake. Whether camping, hunting, or just sitting by the water, he felt most at peace surrounded by nature and the people he loved.

He also had a special passion for jewelry. He loved finding unique pieces in unexpected places, making jewelry himself, and surprising others with a special piece just to brighten their day. Giving brought him much joy.

Anyone who met Steve knew he was one of a kind. He would do anything to help someone in need, was always ready with a good laugh, and never hesitated to offer his unwavering support. He expressed his love in his own unforgettable way, often saying, "If I didn't tease you, how would you know I loved you?" and "If bullshit was worth something, I'd be a millionaire." But perhaps the words that meant the most were simple and secure: "I will always love my family!"

Steve is survived by the love of his life for 63 years Rosemary (Heagren) Olsen, son Michael Olsen, daughter Jennifer (Kevin) Churilla, daughter Angela Sargent. His beloved brothers Ronald Olsen, Dave (Caren) Olsen, Wade (Lindsay) Olsen. 9 Grand children Zachary Olsen, Jacob Olsen, Alexandra Olsen, Connor Olsen, Dalton (Miriam) Churilla, Kolton Churilla, Korbin Sargent, Natalie Sargent, Vanessa Sargent, each in whom brought him immense joy to his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Beverly Olsen, grandparents Livey and Olive Olsen, Ethel Phillips, brothers Gary Lee (Galynn) Olsen, Chad Olsen.

Steve's legacy is one of love, loyalty, laughter, and generosity. He leaves behind a family that is strengthened by his example and countless memories that will be cherished forever. His teasing, his stories, his steady support, and his deep love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved!
