Irene Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Southern Utah Mortuary - Beaver on Jan. 28, 2026.
Irene Munford Davis, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, at Beaver Long-Term Care.

Irene was born on August 18, 1934, in Cedar City, Utah, to Chester Cox Munford and Verda Rowley Munford. She was the middle of three children, with an older sister, LaRee, and a younger brother, Carl. Irene grew up in Parowan, Utah, where she had many friends and was well liked. She graduated from Parowan High School in 1952.

During her high school years, Irene met a young man from Beaver, Utah, named Larry Davis. The two fell in love and were married on March 28, 1953, in Parowan, Utah. Later, they were sealed in the Manti Temple on September 25, 2010. Irene and Larry made their home in Beaver, where Larry was a carpenter, painter and worked for the State Road. Irene worked several places including the El Bambi Cafe, Sewing Factory, Best Western Motel and Wendy's.

They were blessed with two children, Randy Munford Davis and Susan Davis Riggs. Their family grew to include eight grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Irene spent many summers at the Beaver Little League Field watching Randy play baseball, faithfully keeping score while her husband Larry umpired. She was a sports fan and loved watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play sports. She enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz, NFL games, and college football teams, especially the ones Bryson Barnes played in.

Irene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed attending church. She served as a service missionary doing indexing for several years, which she truly enjoyed. Through her ministering assignments and through those who ministered to her, she made lifelong friends and loved volunteering.

She volunteered for 18 years at the Beaver Valley Hospital and also for several years at the Beaver Courthouse Museum. Irene loved shopping, sewing, reading, and going for rides.

She was loved and will be missed by all those that knew her.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Larry Baxter Davis; her parents, Chester Cox Munford and Verda Rowley Munford; her brother, Carl Munford; and her daughter, Susan Davis Riggs.

She is survived by her sister, LaRee Taylor; her son, Randy (Julie) Davis; son-in-law, Clyde Riggs; and her many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Monday, February 2, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver, Utah.

My dear friend Irene. I enjoyed your company so much. Whether we were going on a drive up the canyon, sharing a patty melt and Piccadilly chips at the drive inn, visiting with friends and sisters, or going to plays or library paint night, or just watching movies at your house, I always enjoyed just spending time with you. I hope your reunion with Susan, Larry, Karl, your parents and so many other loved ones is joyous. You will be missed. Thank you for being my dear friend. To Julie Randy Clyde and all of Irene's family I want to wish you peace and comfort.
