Janet Groskreutz Obituary
1944 ~ 2026
Dammeron Valley, Utah-Janet Hunt Groskreutz, 81, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, at her home in Dammeron Valley. She was born September 20, 1944, in Paragonah, Utah, to William Merlin and Lasca Dorrity Hunt.
Janet graduated from Parowan High School and Southern Utah College with a degree in education. On August 20, 1971, Janet married Leland Herbert "Biff" Groskreutz in Evanston, Wyoming, and they made their home in Roy, Utah. Janet taught school at Roy Elementary for 35 years, 31 of those years spent teaching first grade. In 2002, Janet retired and moved with Biff to their new home in Dammeron Valley, where she spent time working in the yard, traveling, and visiting family and friends.
Janet was known for being an immaculate housekeeper and a fantastic cook. She worked hard her entire life and was never shy about telling anyone how she truly felt. Janet was always there when you needed her-whether it was spending extra time with a student who truly needed it, a late-night phone call, or simply sitting with you in a hospital.
Janet is survived by her son, Chance (Shannon) of Hooper, Utah; her stepsons, Todd (Laura) of Bluffdale, Utah, and Biff (Julie) of Tooele, Utah; her sister, Larie Tippetts of Murphys, California; eight grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Herbert "Biff" Groskreutz; her father, William Merlin Hunt; her mother, Lasca Dorrity Hunt; her brother, Merlin Bernell "Bud" Hunt; and her sisters, La Jean, Wanda, and Mildred.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Paragonah Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Shannon, as well as Chloe and Breanna from Dixie Hospice, for their compassion and excellent care.
In lieu of flowers, Janet would encourage everyone to spend a little more time with, or helping, someone in need.
