Harvey Don Harris

Heaven rang with shouts of joy today as our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather returned to His presence. Harvey Don Harris, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family January 3, 2026. Though sadness fills the hearts of those he has left behind we know the beautiful memories, teachings and example he has given us will live on.

Don was born on May 10, 1938 to Harvey Jesse and Amelia Mary Harris. He was welcomed by his sister, Marilyn and was later blessed to be joined by his “partner in mischief” his sister, Renelle.

Don grew up on a farm in Stone, Idaho where he learned the value of hard work and responsibility. He attended primary school in Stone and went on to graduate from Bear River High School in 1956. While in high school he enjoyed participating in track, band and seminary. This is where he discovered his love for learning. Don chose to serve a mission for the church he loved, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Upon returning from his mission he enrolled in BYU where he met his love and eternal companion, Rena Grady. They were married on August 23, 1963 in the Logan temple. They were blessed with four children Eddie, Marie, Nickie, and Matthew.

Don taught school in Wilmington, NC and then moved his family to Manila, Utah where he taught high school social studies. Don’s passion for learning found him making the move to Logan, Utah to attend USU where he did his post graduate studies in accounting. Don worked as an accountant for Trenton Feed Co-op until he retired.

Don was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in and enjoyed many callings. He believed his greatest accomplishment in life was his family and shared often his desire and faith that they could be together for eternity.

Don is survived by his adoring wife, Rena, daughters, Marie (Todd) and Nickie (Wade), seven grandchildren, Lindsay (Mike), Michael, Alex, Amber, Matt (Royal), Samantha, and Jessie (Kyler), and 13 great grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Marilyn and Renelle, brother- in- law Jess, his sons, Eddie and Matthew, a great grandson, Colby, nephews, Mark and Randy, and a niece, Karla. His dear friend and brother-in-law, Ronald, passed away hours after Don.

Funeral services will be held on Friday January 9, 2026 at the Nelson Funeral Home 162 East 400 North, Logan Utah. A viewing will be held from 10:30-11:30 prior to the funeral at the Nelson Funeral Home. Interment will be in the North Logan Cemetery.

Our family would like to thank the staff of Logan Regional Hospital for the loving care of both our precious dad and our family at such a difficult time.
