Harvey D. Surprenant, 83, of Mooers, died Friday, September 5, 2025, at the UVM Health Network – CVPH Plattsburgh with his loving family by his side.
He was born in Mooers on January 17, 1942, the son of Armand and Ida (Patnode) Surprenant.
Harvey D. Surprenant married Bernadette "Bernie" (Snide) McDonald on 12/19/1998.
He Retired from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1999 after more than 30 years working as a heating and air conditioning technician. In his spare time he loved working on old cars whether it was a major overhaul or a simple tune-up and his favorite pastime was watching golf and NASCAR.
Harvey loved working with wood -- making anything from a simple shelf to an intricate basket to a cedar chest. He put his heart and soul into every project and it was never less than perfect. And no matter where he was – in the house, in his truck or in the car – you always saw his supply of Hot Balls!
Left to cherish the memory of Harvey are his wife, Bernie Surprenant; Stepchildren, Barry McDonald, Debbie Hanscom, and Peggy LeBlanc (Theodore); Grandchildren, Garrett Perkins (Jason), Kristin Brunell, James Brunell Jr, Sarah Myers (Daniel), Joshua Brunell (deceased); TJ Brunell (Heather), Jenna DeCoste (Brad); Yvette Turgeon (Matt), James McDonald; Steven J. Clark (deceased), Christina Lee Gray (Adam), Macayla Hanscom, Johnathan Hanscom; Theodore Leblanc III (Sara), Shauna Looze (Stephen), Lauren LeBlanc, and Emma LeBlanc; Great grandchildren, Raeann, MaKyha and Kimslee Andrews; Harper Brunell; Serenity Brunell, Allie and Lucas Myers; Colton, Terry and Jaelynn Brunell; Lilianna and Rowan Decoste; Amberlee Durand; Jacob and Axel Gray, Owen and Avery Looze; Brothers, Bruce (Elizabeth), and Roger (Lorraine); Sisters, Shirley Chauvin (Louie), Diane Cudworth, Fay Steele, and Betty Borrie (Larry); Brother-in-law, Gilbert Snide (Margaret); Sisters-in-law, Theresa Garrand, Eugenie Williams, Doris Brothers, Jackie Lafountain, Jane Burnah, Carolyn Murphy, Crystal Trombley, and Nancy Dubuque (Raymond); as well as several Nieces and Nephews.
Harvey was predeceased by his parents, Ida and Armand Surprenant; former wife, Janice (Jubert) Surprenant; and his daughters, Kimberly Brunell and Keitha Brunell
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Rd. Mooers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 11 AM at St Ann's Church, Mooers Forks. Entombment will follow in the Whispering Maples Memorial Mausoleum, Ellenburg Depot.
