Mrs. Hattie McMillian Chapman, age 93, went home to be with the Lord and reunited with her husband, Richard David Chapman, on Thursday, December 18, 2025. She was born September 12, 1932, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to John and A.V. McMillian.

McMillian; husband, Richard David Chapman; son, Kevin Chapman; brothers, Lyvonne, Thelton, Bobby, Quinn, Carvel, Jill, and Sidel McMillian; and sisters, Helen Adkisson and Bettie Kurtz. She was also preceded in death by daughter-in-law Jane Chapman, grandson Russell Chapman and daughter–in-law Cynthia Fox.
Hattie is survived by her sons, Dale Chapman, Keith Chapman; and daughter Carol Chapman Parrish and son-in-law Marc Parrish; grandchildren, Richard Chapman (Kristin), Chelsea Platas (Joe), Lauren Smith (Keith), Andrew Chapman (Jacy), Marcus Parrish, Jonathan Parrish and David Parrish; great grandchildren Jude and Rory Chapman, Aria & Lana Platas, Cohen, Blythe and Eisley Smith; brother, Phil McMillian, sister, Sandra Harper and sister-in-law Judy McMillian. She was a servant of Christ and served 38 years in children’s ministry at Hillcrest Baptist Church (Pensacola, FL) where she and her husband Dick raised their family and served together. Later in life she was active at Christ Fellowship Baptist Church (Mobile, AL), Jubilee Baptist Church (Daphne, AL), and Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church (DeFuniak Springs, FL). She enjoyed the fellowship and love each of these churches expressed to her and our family over the years. She was a student of God’s word and a prayer warrior and consistently ministered to so many writing cards of encouragement, sympathy and celebration. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for everyone in her family and many in the churches she served. She will be greatly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.
The family will host a Celebration Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 1015 Pleasant Ridge Road, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435 with Minister Phil McMillian officiating. Lunch will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
