I met Mrs. Hazel about 20 years ago during a work assignment when I was conducting a site visit at an agency where she was employed. I hadn't known her 5 minutes when she asked me into her office. Her tone was such that it almost felt like I was gonna get a whooping. My colleague and I went in shutting the door behind us. She firmly said, "Listen here, Gal. These folks in here ain't getting all of their paychecks and I need you to look into that. But they ain't messin' with MY money and I let 'em know that I expect to have every bit of my money on time and I bet not miss a payday or a dime!" I knew then, Mrs. Hazel was somebody I needed to keep in my social circle. We've been close ever since. My colleague and I still laugh about that first encounter with her. Definitely a memory that stuck with us. Gonna miss my dear, sweet friend
