Hazel Brown Brooks, 86, of Macon, Georgia passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. She was born in Dodge County, Georgia, and was the daughter of Willis Brown and Hettie Roland Brown. Hazel married the love of her life, Henry Allen Brooks on January 23, 1960. She worked at Powell's Bloomfield Pharmacy for thirty-seven years.
Hazel's greatest joy was spending time with her family, to whom she was devoted. She loved reading and poetry. Hazel was a member of Mikado Baptist Church. She loved God's Word, and she joyfully served as a Sunday school teacher for over 45 years. She was deeply devoted to her Lord and Savior. Hazel dedicated herself to prayer and consistently committed herself to memorizing scripture throughout her adult life.
Hazel was predeceased by Henry Allen Brooks, her husband of sixty years. She is survived by her two children Penni Miller (David) and Julie Carter (Kevin). She was the proud grandmother of her grandsons, Allen Miller and Matthew Carter (Annemarie). She is further survived by her sisters Evelyn Long, Mae Roland, Myrtle Jones; sister-in-law Rachel Post; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Willis and Hettie Brown; brothers Harvey Brown, Marvin Brown, and Melvin Brown; sister Helen Whitehead; sister-in-law Maggie F. Brooks; and infant son Stanley Allen Brooks.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Gray Memorial Chapel, 4378 Gray Highway, Gray, Georgia. The service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Gray Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cedar Ridge Cemetery.
