Hazel Annette Pierce Corprew of 1270 Ocean Hwy. N., Hertford, NC passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025.
Mrs. Corprew was born on March 7, 1945 to the late James Pierce and Hazel Mae Smith Pierce. She was a life-long resident of Perquimans County. Mrs. Corprew is survived by her loving husband, John Lawrence “Larry” Corprew. They were married for 61 years. She is also survived by her son, Wayne Corprew (Anna); grandchildren, Anthony Corprew and Eileen Corprew (John); great granddaughter, Hazel; brother, James R. Pierce (Susan); nephew, Kendall Pierce (Stacey); brother-in-law, Bobby (Rita); and sister-in-law, Patricia (Everett). In addition to her parents, Mrs. Corprew was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Billy Dean Corprew and his wife, Judy Corprew Copeland.
Mrs. Corprew worked many years as a medical secretary/office manager. A lot of her life was devoted to being a caregiver for her family. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church and a member of the choir for many years. She was a former Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Corprew planned many sing-spirations or concerts and coordinated various programs for the church, including being the chairman of the board of the Oak Grove UMC Bicentennial celebration. She loved decorating for many special events. Mrs. Corprew loved her family and friends. Her kind spirit lifted all who had the privilege to know her.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at their residence at 1270 Ocean Hwy. N., Hertford, NC 27944.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Oak Grove United Methodist Church. A private burial will be held at Cedarwood Cemetery, Hertford, NC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 775 Chapanoke Rd., Hertford, NC 27944.
