Hazel T. Ferrell

December 29, 1942 - June 14, 2023

Hazel Elizabeth Ferrell, 80, of Hardy, passed away on June 14, 2023. She was born to the late Mary Velma McGhee and stepfather Odell Huffman, on December 29, 1942.

She was a retired nurse from Carilion after 20 years, she worked at the Red Cross and was a volunteer at the Hollins Rescue Squad, she also volunteered at numerous Community agencies. Hazel was very compassionate in helping the elderly whenever possible. She took pride in her flower garden and her time with her granddaughters.

She married the late Kenneth W, Ferrell Sr. in 1965 and lived in Roanoke until she moved to Hardy in 2017. Hazel is survived by her son, Kenny W. Ferrell Jr, and wife, Catherine; granddaughters, Kacee and Lena Ferrell; brother, Barry Tayloe (Connie) and the family's two pugs, Jack and Leo. She also leaves behind two very dear friends, Missy Graves, and Robin Lockhart.

A private celebration will be held at her home July 15, 2023, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
