Mrs. Melvin Hadley Ferrell, who was 85 years old, passed away on January 27, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was a native and lifelong resident of Perdido, Alabama, and was a devoted member of the Fretwell Tabernacle church. Her warmth and spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.

She cherished every moment spent with her family, from fishing trips to sharing meals filled with laughter and smiles. Sundays were special, as she loved attending church, where her heart swelled with joy among her loved ones. A talented cook, she took pride in preparing delicious dishes that brought everyone together. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, always bringing her happiness. In her free time, she enjoyed watching gospel TV, westerns, and "The Price Is Right," often while solving crossword puzzles or collecting family photos, which reminded her of the love surrounding her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arch Hadley and Mamie Thomley Hadley; grandson, Bruce Earnest Ferrell, Jr.; granddaughters, Danielle Whatley and Amanda Bryars; son in law, Mickey Miller sisters, Zuleen Hadley, Roberta Smith and Alverta Donald; brother, Earnest Hadley.

She is survived by her loving husband, of sixty-four years, Charles Earnest Ferrell of Perdido, Alabama; two sons, Bruce (Pam) Ferrell, of Perdido, Alabama; Virgel (Debbie) Hadley; three daughters, Sherry Bryars (David), Charlene Miller, and Tracey Milstead (BW); sister Lorena Tyree (Earnest); eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Petty Funeral Homes, LLC, officiated by Sister Helen Stewart.

After the service, she will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Petty Funeral Homes, LLC.

The pallbearers will be Austin Johnson, Jeremy Miller, Dustin Ferrell, Brent Hadley, Donovan Long, and BJ McDuffie

Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Ferrell and Dennis Tyree.

Arrangements are being managed by Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC in Atmore, Alabama.
