Hazel Marie Gibson

HAZEL MARIE (STACY) GIBSON, 79, of Hurley, VA, went to her heavenly home, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Myrtle (Blankenship) Stacy. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was of the Pentecostal faith. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker. She worked at Buchanan General Hospital and was a cook for several stores in Hurley. Later she worked as a caregiver to many elderly in the county, counting many of them as family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eugene Gibson; Siblings: Oma (Silas) Rasnick, Pauline Young, Emma Bandy, Jr. Stacy, Earl Stacy, Donnie Stacy, Geneva Stacy, Carl Stacy, Bobby Stacy and Vestil Stacy.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Bobby (Lucille) Gibson of Hurley, VA, David (Pam) Gibson of Hurley, VA, Jerry Gibson of Mohawk, WV, Sarah (Kenny) Hall of Hurley, VA; Grandchildren: Jonathan Gibson, Brandon Gibson, Kayla Hunt, Annie Day, Nicholas Gibson and Dylan Hall; Great-Grandchildren: Natalie Gibson, Ryden Gibson, Zander Hunt, Olivia Gibson, Jasper Day, Jaxton Day, Tytus Hunt and Memphis Gibson; Sister: Della McCoy.
Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral Services for HAZEL MARIE (STACY) GIBSON was conducted Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel, burial followed in the Willis-Blankenship Cemetery on Knox Creek.
Active Pallbearers were family and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers were Dr. J.P. Sutherland, Jr., and Willis and Justine Smith.
