Hazel Hudson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Funeral Homes - West Chapel on Mar. 30, 2026.
Hazel Hudson, 94, passed away at on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in Morning View Assisted Living. She was born on July 20, 1931, in Luxora, Arkansas, to the late Ophelia Smith.

Hazel was a strong and independent woman who lived her life with quiet dignity and resilience. A devoted homemaker, she took great pride in caring for her home and those she loved. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted Baptist who found strength and comfort in her religious beliefs.

Hazel had a deep love for the simple joys of life. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and especially spending time outdoors. She had a special fondness for birds and found great peace in their presence-the gentle sound of birds singing was something she truly cherished. In earlier years, she was familiar with farm life, helping care for chickens and other animals, including doves and other birds, which added to her love of nature.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Hudson; son, Roland Brown; her sisters, Helen Smith and Argetha Smith; and her brothers, Allen King, James King, and John Smith.

Hazel is lovingly remembered by her niece, Jackie Taylor, and a host of family and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her deeply.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in Palmer Funeral Homes – West Chapel 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628 with funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home
