Hazel Ruth Jayroe, age 87, of Garland, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025. Born in Corsicana, Texas, Hazel was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her warmth, resilience, and unwavering love left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Hazel is survived by her loving family: her children Terry Jayroe, Shelia Valverde, and Danny Jayroe; her grandchildren Morgan Tyson, Ross Jayroe, Chuck Schuerer, John Childress, Phillip Gonzalez, Danny Jayroe II, Blane Jayroe, Raylee Chandler; and her great-grandchildren Madi, Jace, Clara, Charlie, Nathan, Jarrod, Cason, Connor, Kelly, Jaxton, Kye, Skylar, Evie, Lainey, and Grayson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Linzie B. Wheat and Johnnie Mae Carroll Wheat; her husband, Johnnie Ray Jayroe; her siblings Glen, L.B., Virgil, Walter, Marvin, Vera, Mae Evelyn, Martha, and Geneva.
Hazel's life was a testament to strength, faith, and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on Saturday, May 3rd. Visitation 1:00-2:00 p.m. and services at 2:00 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana, Texas. Followed by graveside service at Younger Cemetery in Purdon, TX.
