Hazel Seeley Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 28, 2024.
Hazel J. (Ryan) Seeley, of Plymouth and formerly of Middleboro, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a period of failing health on June 21, 2024. She was 90 years old.
Hazel was born in Boston where she grew up and attended the Mary E. Curley School in Jamaica Plain. After finishing high school, Hazel worked for the New England Coffee Company. Hazel met her beloved husband, Richard A. Seeley at a dance in Chelsea. They got married on March 29, 1952, at the Boylston Congregational Church, Jamaica Plain, and celebrated sixty-six years together. They resided in Boston where their children were born and raised before settling in Stoughton where they would continue to bring up their three daughters and welcomed a son. Hazel worked in the Stoughton Public Schools for many years in food services.
Hazel was a talented artist. Before she welcomed her son, Mark, into the world, she painted an elaborate mural of the animated Disney film Bambi in his nursery. Her love of crafting extended to crochet as well. She enjoyed playing board games with her family and couldn't pass up a good Hallmark movie. She made sure to keep up with current events, was an excellent cook, and always made sure to add personal touches to almost anything. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, always maintaining her supportive and nurturing presence with everyone.
Hazel was quick-witted and liked to joke around. She will be remembered for her loving, maternal spirit, and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Hazel is predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard A. Seeley; her parents, Nathaniel and Jessie (Hodder) Ryan and her brother, Alfred Ryan.
She was the devoted mother of Loreen M. Kelso and her husband Robert of Plymouth, Linda A. Baron of Marshfield, Karen M. Sechovicz and her husband Stephen of Kingston, and Mark R. Seeley and his wife Alison of Canton. "Nana" of Timothy Kelso, Nicole Schwarm, Ryan Sechovicz, Elizabeth Seeley and Matthew McDermott. "Na-G" of Peyton Kelso, Riley Kelso, Hadley Schwarm, Zoey Schwarm, Seeley Kelso, and Cal McDermott. Sister of Janet MaDan of Rockland and loving aunt to her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
