Hazel Helen Johnson Simon, affectionately known as Grandma Hazel, was born on September 21, 1927, in Palmetto, Louisiana. She made her home in Beaumont, Texas, where she built a lifetime filled with love, faith, and family. She returned to the loving arms of Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont Texas.
She was united in marriage to Samuel Simon in January 1941, and this marriage was blessed with the birth of seven children: Silverine, Joseph, J.C., James, Robert, Samuel, and Calvin. Together, they shared many blessed years before his passing. Hazel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose kindness, strength, and faith touched every life she encountered.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel; her parents, Oscar and Leona; her children, Silverine, Joseph, J.C., Robert, and Calvin; her sisters Maria, Eva, and Lillian and her brother J.B.
She leaves behind a loving legacy that continues through her surviving children Samuel (Janice) and James Simon, her sisters Marilyn, Lourene, Laurene and Shirley, and her brother Marion. She is also survived by her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
Hazel was a woman of strength, love, and dedication. She took immense pride in her children-all of whom became Veterans and went on to earn college degrees, reflecting the values of service, education, and perseverance that she instilled in them. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her nurturing spirit, and her lifelong devotion to God and her family.

Services will be held on Saturday: Nov. 15, 2025, at Magnolia Baptist Church Pine St. Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 8AM until Funeral at 10AM. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery Beaumont, TX.
