Hazel Lillian Smither

Frankfort – Hazel Lillian Newton Smither, age 93, passed into our Lord's arms on November 16, 2025. Services will be held at North Frankfort Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. David Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at North Frankfort Baptist Church from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025.

Mrs. Smither was born in Frankfort on August 12, 1932, to the late Virginia and Roy Newton. She worked at Frankfort Regional Medical Center for 33 years. Hazel was a member of North Frankfort Baptist Church. She enjoyed living in the country surrounded by her family and favorite canine companion, Haley Jo Jo.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Scotty Smither; daughters, Connie Banta (Forrest) and Teresa Preston (Mike); brother Wayne Newton (Sherri); eight grandchildren, and twenty-nine great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Zack Lewis Smither; son, Billy Smither, and great-grandsons, Amos and Justin.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to North Frankfort Baptist Church in Hazel's memory.
