"Beloved mother, grandmother, sister & aunt"
Hazel Lean (Bryant) Staton, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 18, 2024 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden, CT. She was the loving wife of the late Ernest Staton, Sr. who passed away in 2004.
Hazel was born in Halifax, NC on August 18, 1951, a daughter of the late William Henry and Hester Octavia (Hedgepeth) Bryant. Hazel and her husband, Ernest, during the early 1970's moved to Waterbury, CT. They started their life together raising a family and soon after moved to Cheshire, CT. She first worked in New York waitressing and did office work. She then worked for the United States Post Office in NY and transferred to the Post Office in Waterbury, CT, and worked there for over 20 years until her retirement in 1992. Hazel was a people person and loved to spend quality time with her family and her many friends. She liked to make them laugh as her laugh was very infectious. She was very positive and uplifted the people around her. She enjoyed having meals and gatherings, watching T.V., loved to sing, and most of all she enjoyed putting Jehovah first and preaching about the good news of God's Kingdom to others. She will be greatly missed by her entire family and many friends that were honored to have known her.
She leaves her children, Ernest Staton, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Wolcott, CT, T. LaShawn Staton of Cheshire, CT and Tiffany LaNette Staton of Honolulu, HI, her two loving grandchildren, Madison and Maxwell Staton, two brothers, Robert Bryant of Uniondale, NY, and Ervan Bryant and his wife, Brenda, of Halifax, NC, two sisters, Thelma Louise (Bryant) Dildy and her husband, Robert Earl, of Rocky Mount, NC, and Fannie Catherine (Bryant) McGee and her husband, Melvin, of Detroit, MI. Also, a host of nieces, nephew's cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by brothers, William Clarence Bryant and Charles Augustus Bryant, her sisters, Dorothy Mae (Bryant) White and Sallie Gean (Bryant) Peterson-Ingram, and Sallie was one of triplets in which two sisters who were born did not survive.
Arrangements: Calling hours for Hazel will be held Friday, November 1, 2024 from 9:30am to 11:30 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
