Hazel LaRaine Stewart Judd, age 83, returned to her heavenly home on January 2, 2025. Born on September 3, 1941, in Delta, Utah, LaRaine was the firstborn child of Peter Pearson Stewart and Hazel Sampson Stewart. Her family later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where LaRaine graduated from Las Vegas High School.
It was in Las Vegas where she met her eternal companion, Leo Benjamin Judd, at a church dance. They were married on August 11, 1962, in the St. George, Utah Temple. LaRaine worked at the FBI before becoming a full-time
mother to their four children and a backyard full of desert tortoises.
She was involved in PTA for 15 years while her children were in school. She served on the membership committee at Ensign Credit Union. She gave lifelong church service including: acting as a scribe for the Patriarchal blessings that her Dad gave; serving in Ward and Stake Primary, Relief Society, and Young Womens; was a dedicated meetinghouse librarian for years, diligently worked on family history, was a lifelong missionary, volunteered at the Las Vegas Temple and ministered to all. Her commitment to giving back reflected her compassionate nature and the unconditional love she gave to all-love that was truly endless. She always served without question, loved without any judgment, and made sure that everyone felt welcomed. Her vibrant spirit, kindness, and boundless love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Many called her Momma Judd. She loved her family and took special interest in each of her grandkids and what they were doing. Spoiling them with chocolate chip Mickey Mouse pancakes and ice cream. You could never leave without a big hug or end a call without an "I love you". No one left the house without an offer of candy. She will be remembered for giving Christmas ornaments to kids and grandkids each year, puzzles, and all the snacks they could ever imagine.
Preceded in death by her parents Pete and Hazel Stewart, sister Karen Stewart Gubler, and brother-in-law Randy Rempe.
Survived by her devoted husband Ben; son Garr (Michelle) Judd – Orem Utah, grandson Justin (Kristen) and great-granddaughter Emma Judd – Mountain View California, Jannika (Julie Tilton) Judd and Jacquelyn Judd – Salt Lake City Utah; daughter Decie (Dave) Walker – Litchfield Park Arizona, granddaughter Danielle Walker (Hayden) and great-granddaughter Adelaide Djuric – San Antonio Texas, Allison Walker – Brooklyn New York; son Erik Judd – Las Vegas, Nevada; and son Larry (Steph) and grandchildren Jake, Clark, Zack, Kate, and Jane Judd – Las Vegas, Nevada; siblings Ronald (Arline) Stewart, Charlotte (Steve) Hennefer, Howard (Nalani) Stewart, Janette Rempe, RaNae (Jim) Howard, and Vonda (Brent) Blackburn; and brother-in-law (Royce) Gubler.
Services will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saint chapel located at 1101 North Pecos, Las Vegas. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am with a viewing held one hour prior.
