Heather Sutherland Danielson, a virtuous woman and wonderful wife, dedicated mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, eldest sister and committed friend, peacefully passed away on February 22, 2024, where she is now "Alive in Heaven". Heather was born on November 17, 1940, in Puerto Princesa, Philippines, to Alexander "Sandy" Millar Sutherland and Mary "Maisie" (née Robertson) Sutherland. Heather is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Philip Paul Danielson, of a blessed 60 year marriage beginning October 26, 1963 in Asheville, NC; her children, Dana (Kelly) Danielson, Thryn (Scott) Slawin, Lynn (Michael) Davis, Douglas (Sandy) Danielson, Thay (Mero) Guirguis, and Paula (Corey) McKinney; her grandchildren, Robert, Rebecca and Kyle; Kelsie (Zachary); Kimberly (Robert), Alexis and Rayna; and Eryn, Fiona and Keegan; her great-grandchildren, Lyanna and Aerith; her siblings, Alastair (Mary), Glen (Marie), Craig (Margaret), and Hazel (Donald) Schaeffer; her sister-in-law Renee (Hood); and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Keith.
Heather was a WWII survivor and evacuee from the Philippines island of Palawan. She graduated high school at Ben Lippen in Asheville, NC and college at Columbia Bible College in Columbia, SC. She served the Lord in West Paris, ME before being commended by Palm Bible Chapel in FL to missionary work in the Philippines. As a pastor's wife and missionary, she raised her children in ME, the Philippines, FL, IL, NY, WV and OH. Heather provided specialized foster care and respite for children with medically complex needs for several decades. Mandy, Bobby and Ciara were specific foster children special to her heart. Heather's life is an example of gladhearted dedication and service to others without need for adoration. Heather was humble and her grace to others has been transformative and impactful to others, even into her last few days before being called to Heaven. Heather did have enjoyments with gardening, canning, crocheting, creating, researching anything from plans to building homes and knowledge of nature and plants. In all of Heather's life, she has "kept the faith".
