Hector Matos Colon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 80. Born on July 4, 1943, in Manati, Puerto Rico to Tomasa Matos & Innocencio Colon, Hector lived there until he was 19 years old before moving to Sunol, California, where he built a life filled with love and laughter.
Hector met the love of his life at a Puerto Rican dance, and they were later married in 1966. Together, they had three children, who were the light of his life. A hardworking man, Hector was a great provider for his family and always put their needs first. He cherished his morning coffee, which he shared with his beloved wife, creating a daily ritual of love and connection.
Hector had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing the congas and the guido, filling his home with rhythm and joy. He also had a passion for "fixing" things, even if they remained broken, bringing a sense of humor and warmth to those around him. His playful spirit and infectious smile could light up any room.
After retiring in 2006, Hector spent most of his days going to the flea market with his wife, visiting thrift stores, and spending quality time with family and friends. These simple pleasures brought him immense joy and allowed him to create countless cherished memories with his loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his eldest son, Hector Matos Colon Jr. Hector is survived by his loving wife Carmen R. Colon, his two children Andrew R. Colon & Jennie M. Rivera & his son in law & Best Friend Felix I. Rivera Jr ('Charlie'), his grandchildren, Hector M. Colon III (Tito), Juan M. Colon, Mariana Campos, Patricia Amaya, Eladio Campos (Joseph), Dolores Colon, Andrew Colon Jr & Corrina Colon as well as his great grandchildren and 1 more on the way. He is also survived by his siblings Sabina Rangel, Angel Colon & Robert Colon who all will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
Hector's legacy of love, music, and family will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His unwavering love and dedication to his family will be remembered always, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
We give very much love and thanks to family & friends for their kind words, condolences, Blessings, Love & Donations.
