Hedy Hodges, beloved daughter of the late John L. Fletcher and Bessie Mae Marshall, was born on March 8, 1944, in Jenkins Bridge, Virginia. She was called home to be with the Lord on August 17, 2025.
Hedy was educated in the Accomack County Public Schools and attended the Eastern Shore Community College in Melfa, Virginia. She worked as a caring and skillful nurse at Chapel Manor Nursing Home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a skilled presser at the Parksley Shirt Factory in Parksley, Virginia; and a proficient Ma-chine Operator at Bel-Art Products in Pocomoke City, Maryland.
Although a hard worker until her retirement in 2013, Hedy never stopped working for the Lord. Not only was she a loveable person who lived her life on fire for Jesus, Hedy was truly a living testimony who always said that "I don't go to witness, I witness as I go." And, what a witness she was! "Ms. Hedy " or "Tootie ", as many knew her, loved to work in the church, sing, and have fun in the Lord.
Hedy Hodges is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lynwood Marshall; and husband, Cathrus Hodges.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Dr. Carla R. Hodges-Brown; one son, Jeffrey Hodges; one son-in-law, Anthony Brown; and one God-son, Mark Ayres; one sister, Sheila Roberson; four brothers, Paul Roberson, Richard Roberson, Carl Roberson, and Steven Roberson; one sister-in-law, Claire Roberson; one God-granddaughter, Keeva Dennis; and cherished extended family, relatives, and friends.
