Heidi Wilcox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Methuen Family Funeral Home on Mar. 11, 2026.
Heidi Ann Wilcox, 58, Lived Passionately, Laughed Unreservedly, Loved Wholeheartedly

Heidi Ann Wilcox passed away on February 23, 2026 in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She leaves behind a cadre of friends and family who will miss her spiky red hair, her devotion to science, her keen interest in travel, her highly honed casino skills, and her general joie de vivre.

Heidi's sharp intellect and analytical mind were apparent from her early years in Beverly, winning her a scholarship to the prestigious Pingree School. At UMass Amherst, where she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees, she met her people on the 16th floor of Coolidge Tower, a group of fellow nerds who she connected with for life. At the publisher Addison Wesley, she met her BFF Heather, and the two threw unmatched parties complete with nifty costumes, copious libations, and much shenanigans. Known as "Heetmeizer" in her circle of friends (iykyk), she was smart, curious, direct, feisty, strong, and not shy about letting people know what she was thinking-or shy about much of anything!

Heidi pursued many passions in her life, and wielded many talents. An ardent microbiologist and environmental engineering expert, she spread the word about green cleaning solutions, working for years in a lab at UMass Lowell and then launching her own consulting business. She traveled extensively around the country, gave presentations at scientific conferences, and was an expert in her field. An indomitable casino veteran, Heidi enjoyed her beloved Lhasa Apso dogs, late-night QVC shopping, cooking delicious comfort food, having her nails and hair done, and conducting spirited debates and sharing hilarious stories with her large network of friends and acquaintances.

Deeply family oriented, Heidi had an extremely close and loving relationship with her mom, Carol J. (Mersereau) Dobson, who predeceased her, and her stepdad, Richard Dobson, of Beverly. She cared deeply about her brother, Jason Wilcox, his partner, Carolyn, and their children, niece, Jade, and nephew, Jordan. Friends, Heather, Laura, Karen ("Kah"), John, Marnie, Joel, Scott, and Noelle supported and helped her during her recent bouts of illness. She will be missed by myriad friends, family, colleagues, clients, and others whose lives she touched through her generosity, her big laugh, and her even bigger heart.

Services will be private but please post your memories on this page. Heidi would have liked that. Methuen Family Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA is honored to serve the Wilcox family during this difficult time.
