Heinrich Sawatzky Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boyer Funeral Home - Seminole from Jan. 20 to Jan. 21, 2026.
Funeral services for Heinrich Sawatzky, age 77 of Seminole, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Community Church with Pastor Dave Klassen officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.

Heinrich Sawatzky was born in Mexico on November 12, 1948 to Bernhard Sawatzky and Maria (Peters). He married Maria Banman in Mexico on July 13, 1969. Heinrich loved to coach, play and watch MLB baseball games; his children couldn't do anything until they played baseball first. In fact, he shared his love of the game with kids everywhere of all ages, and no doubt countless children were kept off the streets and out of trouble because he got them involved in baseball. He loved to have pastors to come visit him, not just his own pastor. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family in his spare time. He loved the competition of having the best grade of apples in his orchard and worked hard at it. As a child he worked in his grandparents' cheese factory in Mexico. He would modify everything he thought could be better, and he was a great engineer without having a degree. He also acted as the community vet without having a degree; he enjoyed helping sick animals and he was good at it, even the village benefitted.

Heinrich Sawatzky passed away January 18, 2026 at his home in Seminole. In addition to his parents, he is preceded by seven brothers, two sisters, two sons-in-law and one grandson. He is survived by his wife, Maria Sawatzky of Seminole; one son ,Henry Sawatzky and wife Annie of Seminole; five daughters, Agatha Froese and husband John of El Paso, Texas, Margaret Martens and husband Ben of Seminole, Mary Berg of Sublett, Kansas, Anna Froese and husband Ben of Seminole, and Tina Wiebe and husband David of Sublett, Kansas; three brothers, Cornelius Sawatzky of Mexico, Herman Sawatzky and wife Maria of Canada, and David Sawatzky of Bolivia; two sisters, Anna Loewen and husband Franz of Bolivia and Justina Janzen
