Heinz Graumann Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vander Plaat Funeral Home - Wyckoff on Sep. 10, 2025.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Heinz Graumann of Yardley, Pennsylvania, who died peacefully on September 9th, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born in Queens, New York, Heinz lived a long and accomplished life marked by dedication to service, aviation and family. Heinz was a graduate of St. John's University and proudly served with the New York Police Department in its aviation unit, where his skill and commitment helped safeguard countless lives. During his time with the NYPD, Heinz was instrumental in the development of NYC's high-rise evacuation plan, a vital contribution to public safety.

Beyond his law enforcement service, Heinz enjoyed a distinguished career as a pilot in both the commercial and private sectors, where his expertise and professionalism earned him the respect of colleagues and peers. He was also an active member of the Eastern Regional Helicopter council, where he continued to share his passion for aviation and safety. Outside of his career, Heinz cherished time spent in the outdoors. He found joy in hunting, fishing and playing golf, pursuits that brought him relaxation, camaraderie, and lasting memories with family and friends.

Heinz is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia, and his cherished daughter, Denise and son in law Mitchell Secino. He was also a devoted stepfather to Lisa Bryan, Michael and Denise Scheps, and Anthony and Amy Scheps. Heinz was also a proud grandfather to Nicholas, Christopher and Michael 11, and will be fondly remembered by his extended family and many dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, 10:30am-12:30 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization close to the family's heart in honor of Heinz's memory.

His life was a testament to service, resilience, and his devotion to family. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched.
