Helen Atwood Boland Obituary
Helen Atwood Small “Woody” Boland, 83, of Morganton, NC, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024. She was born in Burke County, NC on April 20, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Clyde Edward Small and Helen Atwood Stamey Small.
Helen was a graduate of Drexel High School and Southeastern Beauty Academy of Charlotte. She was a cosmetologist and enjoyed working at day care centers because she loved taking care of children.
Mrs. Boland is survived by her daughter, Wendy B. Roberts of Myrtle Beach; son, Michael G. Boland of Goldsboro; brother, Tim Small of Morganton and sister, Sara Lynn Oakley of Morganton. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Gary James Boland; and a brother, Clyde “Buster” Small, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, July 12, 2024 in the Kistler House at First Baptist Church of Morganton, NC with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating. The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2024 at Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington, NC.
