Helen Sue Pardue Brooks

Helen Pardue Brooks, 83, passed away on March 26, 2026. She was born on June 12, 1942 in Wilkes County to the late Major Pardue and Pauline Smith Pardue. Helen was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and loved her church family. She was the oldest of her siblings and they were the last of her family’s generation. Helen was a retired teacher of Yadkin County Schools. She served the county for 32 years. From 1964-1969 she served as a teacher at Jonesville School. After leaving Jonesville, she went to Starmount High School, where she taught for the remainder of her career from 1970-1996. She loved celebrating any special occasion and had a great love for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Anne Pardue Harpe and Andy Pardue. Helen is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Craig Brooks; daughter, Marsha Brooks Norman; grandchildren, Jenna Widener and Brooks Widener; sister-in-law, Brenda Pardue; brother-in-law, Henry Harpe; nieces, Kristen (Jamye) Macemore, Jean Brooks-Ireland, and Jo (David) Evans; nephews, Cameron (Abigail) Pardue, Brandon (Ashley) Pardue, Nathan (Reneé) Pardue, and Randy (Charlotte) Brooks and many other beloved family members.

A funeral service for Helen will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at 4PM at Bethel Baptist Church in Ronda, with Rev. Steve Fowler officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 – 4:00PM at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, 2178 Bethel Road, Ronda, NC 28670.
