Rita Ann Waldrup Winters, 82, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. She was born on October 12, 1943, to Lester and Helen (Chappell) Waldrup in Jonesville, N.C. Rita worked in sewing and textiles, eventually running her own business as a seamstress. She loved reading, dogs, and all sorts of crafts. In her time, she was a dedicated quilter, basket maker, and cross-stitcher who sold her work at craft fairs and gift shops. Rita was a resourceful and creative person. Rita was preceded in death by her younger sister, Lestine Waldrup Wells, and her husband of 67 years, Avery Leon Winters. She leaves her daughter and son-in-law, Autumn Winters and Jason Morningstar, to cherish her memory. To honor Rita’s final wishes, no services will be held. Please feed birds, appreciate wildflowers, or create something handmade in her memory.
