Wilcox Family Funeral Home & CrematoryHelen Louise Burcham, 93, of Greenbrier, AR, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 1, 2025. She was born on July 15, 1932, in Quitman, AR, to the late, Cecil and Reva Langrell.
Helen was an avid walker (up until 3 months ago), and a reader of both Christian novels and the Bible. She read her Bible from cover to cover for 38 years (1987 to 2023). She made most of the clothes her 3 girls wore including cheerleading uniforms, costumes, and formal gowns. After her girls were grown, she started making doll clothes for dolls she would purchase at flea markets and yard sales. Helen won several “Best of Show” ribbons at multiple fairs. Even while taking care of her own children, she was the “Ninny” to many more children throughout the Memphis, Everton, and Greenbrier areas.
Helen was famous for her “Ninny biscuits” and Pecan Pies, one of which sold for over $200 at a silent auction.
She was always the first to volunteer for any task no matter how hard or how dirty. Being the “life of the party” Helen loved being around people including her Memphis sisters. She loved fiercely and could always find the good in any situation.
Helen was a member of Thrifthaven Baptist Church while living in Memphis where she worked in the nursery every Sunday. After moving to Everton, Arkansas in 1977, they attended Liberty Baptist Church in Harmon, AR. Several moves later, (after her husband passed away), she moved to Greenbrier and was a member of Calvary Baptist, and at the time of her death was a member of First Baptist Church in Damascus.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Burcham; children, Barbara Ann Burcham, Martha Louise Burcham, and Reva Cathleen Burcham; grandchildren, Michelle Jane Huss and Alissa Gail Huss Sanabria; and her siblings, Mary Ballew, Mary Langrell, and Dorothy Wilson.
Helen is survived by her children, Jan Hunter, Gail (Jeff) Hawkins, and Jim (Kim) Burcham; grandchildren, Jeff (Sherry) Strauser, Jennifer Strausser, Deanne (Galen) Powell, Marshall Huss, Duncan Brown, Michael Brown, Ashley (Scott) Taylor, Joel Brown, Garrett (Amanda) Burcham, Neal (Alexi) Burcham, and Carter Burcham; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great – great grandchildren; and siblings, Ruby Green, Dianne Langrell, and Ray Langrell.
Helen’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4th, at 11:00 am, at First Baptist Church of Damascus. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am.
