She moved to Macon, GA during the Depression. The family moved into the Bibb Village in East Macon. Helen spent childhood and high school years in the wonderful village community surrounded by extended family and friends. The Village provided her a deep sense of community and has remained a special place in her heart throughout her life. She was a graduate of Miller High School, a devout Christian and a dedicated member of Midway Baptist Church for some 75 years.

Anchored in family, friends, various churches and communities, her family will cherish her memory and celebrate her legacy. Were she writing this Obituary, she would insist that all the attention and recognition be given her descendants!
