Helen T. Couri

Helen T. Couri, age 96, of East Peoria, passed away at 12:11 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Carle Methodist Hospital with her family by her side.
Born September 24, 1928 in Peoria, a daughter to Samuel and Selma Joseph. On August 31, 1954 she married Robert F. Couri and together they cherished 57 years before his passing on December 20, 2011.
Survivors include seven daughters: Vickie Treber, Lynne (David) Jacobs, Carol Couri, Renee Mattern, Kathie (Patrick) Risen, Lori (Daniel) Densberger, and Lisa (Timothy) Adlington; one son Robert (Linda) Couri, Jr.; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one sister Eileen (Leonard) Unes.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, one sister, and one son-in-law James Treber.
Helen was a woman of persistent faith whose love for Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary was evident in her daily practice of praying the Rosary. She relished being surrounded by her loved ones. She was an amazing cook and active member of the community, especially the Itoo Society. A loving stay-at-home mom for years, she later worked as a salesperson at Bergner's and Macy's. She showered her legacy of generosity and hospitality upon all, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She graduated at Academy of Our Lady in 1945 and was married at St. Patrick Church in Peoria in 1954. She was fondly loved and admired by her family and friends and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held at St. Monica Catholic Church in East Peoria on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 from 9:30 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM. Father Jonathon Steffen will officiate, and burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers preferred memorials in Helen's memory may be made as masses in her memory or to the ITOO Society.
