Helen Hayes Dowell

Helen Hayes Dowell 92, passed from earth to the arms of her Savior on August 10, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 49 years, Joseph Dowell. Also
preceded in death by daughter, Becky Young and grandson, Joseph White.
She graduated from Louisville Girls High School in 1949 ½. She retired after 23 years of
service at Louisville Transit (TARC) to raise her children and care for her family. She loved
doing ceramics, reading and working crossword puzzles. She enjoyed going to Florida with
friends and family. She and Joe loved eating out with friends and playing a card game, Hand
and Foot. She was a faithful member of Cloverleaf Baptist Church for over 59 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Timothy (Rebecca), grandchildren Alyson
Young (Dio), Macy Young (Christian), Ashleigh Dowell, Sara Dowell and a great grandson,
Cain Joseph Valdez. She is also survived by Betty Fox, cousin who lovingly cared for her the
last five years. She is also survived by many loving cousins and caring friends.
Funeral service will be Monday August 19, 2024, at 11:00am Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial to follow in Bethany Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-8:00pm and Monday from 9:00-11:00am at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Cloverleaf Baptist Youth Fund, St. Jude Children's
Research Hospital or Hosparus.
