Helen Fahy Ng Yuk Yin (Helen) was born on May 15,1936 in Tai Shan, Guangdong province in People's Republic of China to the late Ng Wai Lam and Maria Wong King Yan Helen passed peacefully in her sleep on March 24,2024 in Bellevue WA. She was also preceded in death by her sister Ada Lau Ng Yuk Ping brothers Ng Pui Kwan Ng Kwok Fan Ng Koon Keat and Alfred Eng Pui Chiu
Helen is survived by her husband John Fahy, two daughters Vivian Fahy and Carol Fahy (Franklin Hoo and grandchildren Ryan and Adelyn), sister Harriet Fong Ng Yuk Wah brother-in-law Lau Ka Hung and numerous nieces and nephews.
In her early years in China, Helen received English education from school run by Catholic priests. She loved running and often competed in marathons. She boarded a pirate ship with her parents to avoid Japanese invasion when most of their valuables were confiscated during The Second World War. Helen managed to survive the Japanese occupation of China, but she had to flee China to Hong Kong as her family was persecuted by The Gang of Four followers labeling them evil capitalists for having business in the United States.
In the 1950s, Helen met her first husband Michael Timmins and had her first child, David Timmins (deceased) and she lived in England for a while. Then she returned to Hong Kong after separated from Michael. In late 1960s, Helen met her current husband John from England who was working for one of the largest British conglomerates in Hong Kong. Later, they got married and Helen focused on being a dedicated mother, wife, and homemaker; making sure everyone is well-fed and taken care of. She created the most wonderful scrumptious dishes such as Lamb Chop with Herbs, Braised Short Ribs, Beef with Long Beans, Pork Chops with Onions, and lots of savory soups that make your mouth watered.
In 1994, Helen immigrated to the United States to join her younger sister Ada in Mercer Island WA until May 2000 when she moved to Bellevue WA until she passed. She used her culinary skills to work for QFC Deli Department until she retired. She is known for her hard work and pleasant character. She loved dancing, knitting, and shopping. She also enjoyed visiting theme parks, zoos, and gardens with her grandchildren and telling them the details of the real-life pirates' encounter. And in last 20 years, she fell in love with TV dramas from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, and mainland China that she continued to watch past midnight.
