Sylvia Jean Tomlinson, 79, passed away Friday, October 17, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Buckhorn Methodist Church, 8102 NC Hwy 42 W, Kenly. Interment will follow in Buckhorn Cemetery, Kenly. Pastor Richard Barbato will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, October 20, 2025, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
If Jean ever met you, we guarantee that she prayed for you by name. Even after dementia stole your names from her, she would ask, “Lord, you know my memory is not too good now … but you know who they are Lord. I pray for them all”. Now that she is free from the chains of pain and confusion, we know that she is rejoicing with those who have gone before her and for that we are grateful.
She is survived by her children, Robyn Tomlinson Valentino (Mike) of Georgia, Ginger T. DeLario of Haw River, Bryan Tomlinson (Ronda) of Michigan, Robert “Bobby” E. Tomlinson, Jr. (Debbie) of Wilson, and her grandchildren, Tim
Collier (Chris Ion), Dustin Collier (Katie), Lauren Osgood, Dakota Tomlinson, Nicklaus DeLario, and Sarah DeLario, and her great-grandchild, Whitney Collier-Ion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Tomlinson, Sr.; son, Ray “Bull” Tomlinson, and her parents, William Jacob and Mary Katheleen Daniel.
Flowers are welcome or consider memorials in Sylvia’s memory to Authoracare Collective Hospice, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, North Carolina 27405.
