Helen L Hanlon (Phillips) of Dover passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024. Helen was born on June 20, 1933 and was 90 years old at the time of her passing.
Helen was born and raised in Mineral Point, Wisconsin to the late Percy D and Helen L Phillips. She graduated from Mineral Point High School and earned a degree as a Registered Nurse from Memorial Hospital in Madison.
While completing one of her specialty rotations, she met the love of her life, Jacque E Hanlon, whom she later married. At the start of their marriage, home was in Chicago where Jacque completed his PHD studies, and they welcomed their first son, Jacque H. The small family relocated to Delaware when Jacque accepted a job at DuPont, and the family grew, adding two daughters, Melanie (Cerminara) and Melissa, and son Jacob.
Following her husband's death, Helen returned to the nursing profession, caring for patients for the next 35 years. Helen retired from the State of Delaware Health and Social Services at the age of 80.
Helen was a lover of life with an adventurous spirit. She cherished her family and enjoyed every moment she got to spend with them. She loved to laugh, play cards, tend to her ever expanding gardens, and create unique, hand-stitched dresses and dolls for all the little girls in her life.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters, her loving husband Jacque, grandson Matthew (Cerminara) and granddaughter Stephanie.
She is survived by her sister Beth (Boldt) and her husband Bob of Milton, Wi, son Jacque and his wife Kathy of Wilmington, DE, daughter Melanie (Cerminara) and her husband Michael of Middletown, DE, daughter Melissa of Dover, DE, son Dr. Jacob and wife Rebecca of Middletown DE, grandchildren Michael and his wife Monika, Ryan and his wife Kimberly, Madison, Jacque, Grace, Jake, and great-grandchildren Lucas and Raegan and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Friday May 24th at 10am, at Silverbrook Cemetery, 3300 Lancaster Pike Wilmington DE 19805.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice.
