Helen Ruth Hunter, 89 of West Terre Haute, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 20, 2024 in Regional Hospital. She was born in West Terre Haute on August 18, 1934 to Fred W. Kasemeyer and Ruth I. Bailey Kasemeyer.
Helen was a member of First Baptist Church in West Terre Haute and served as a nurse’s assistant at both West Vigo Middle School and West Vigo High School. She was a wonderful cook and loved her family immensely.
Helen is survived by her husband of 69 years, Gene Hunter, as well as two children, Steve Hunter (Sally), and Kathy Hunter (Lynda Fuqua). She is also survived by two grandchildren, Amy Barbour (Corey), and Chad Hunter (Kelsey), as well as four great grandchildren; Hunter Barbour, Addie Barbour, Hayden Hunter, and Greyson Hunter. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as two brothers, Donald Kasemeyer and David Kasemeyer.
Funeral services will be held at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 North 3rd St., West Terre Haute on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Jeff Augustus officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 12 Noon – 2:00 PM in the funeral home, with a private family burial to follow.
